LILLEHAMMER OLYMPIC ART MUSEUM
Lillehammer, Norway

FIRST PRIZE

The Lillehammer Olympic Art Museum is an addition to an existing art museum from 1964 and was built to extend the realm of the Olympics into the cultural activities of the region.  The street facade and the facade facing the public park are designed in traditional timber slats that create soft undulating forms.  A museum garden separates the existing museum from the addition containing a waterfall and an outdoor sculpture garden. The museum was widely featured in the press during and after the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics.
