The brief invites designers to envision a new pedestrian crossing, anchored to the existing West End Bridge, creating new connections to both land and water. The design adopts the following strategy: to close and connect the pedestrian loop at the River Park’s west end; to create a minimal, elegant cable structure that emphasizes thestructural system of the existing bridge; to create a structure that, although minimal in
plan, will have little affect on the general view of the landmark Westend Bridge.
